Venetian Causeway Bridge Reopened After Being Stuck Upright

The East Venetian Bridge was fixed after it was stuck in the upright position Sunday afternoon. A malfunction caused the east bascule bridge to lock up around 5 p.m.

A technician fixed the glitch and the bridge was working again just before 8 p.m. The bridge reopened for traffic. Earlier, officials blocked vehicular or pedestrian traffic in the area.

Officials advised commuters to seek an alternate route. Miami-Dade Transit worked with Miami and Miami Beach police departments to manage traffic in the area.
