Video Showing Arrest of Former Miami Gardens Police Chief Stephen Johnson in Prostitution Sting Released

Video showing the arrest of former Miami Gardens Police Chief Stephen Johnson in an undercover prostitution sting was released Thursday.

The footage, released by the Broward Sheriff's Office, shows Johnson interacting with two undercover detectives at a Dania Beach hotel on Feb. 27, the night of his arrest.

Detectives had placed an escort ad on backpage.com and Johnson called the number, authorities said. He arranged to pay $100 for 30 minutes with two prostitutes, authorities said.

The video shows Johnson walk into the room with the two women, sit on the bed and hand over the cash before uniformed deputies enter the room and take him into custody.

Johnson, who had been Miami Gardens' chief since May 2014, was fired after his arrest. He blamed it on the pressures of his job.

"The stress overwhelmed me," Johnson told reporters after his release from jail. "And I made a very bad decision."
