Video Shows Miami Fire Rescue Truck Crashing Into Building

Surveillance video released Saturday shows a City of Miami fire rescue truck and vehicle crashing into a building in Liberty City.

The crash occurred Thursday evening at Northwest 54th Street and 13th Avenue.

Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll says rescue workers were responding to an emergency when the car turned into their path. The impact of the crash forced both vehicles into the side of a building before they came to rest on the street.

The female driver of the car was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The first responders traveling in the truck were not injured, Miami Fire Rescue said.

The woman, said to be in her 20's, crossed in front of the ambulance as it was heading to a call, according to officials. The rescue truck had its lights and sirens activated as it traveled on 54th Street.

The impact of the crash was so significant, the two vehicles drifted and plowed into a linen business. An awning outside the building and the front metal door were damaged. The car's bumper was found inside the building. There were employees inside at the time; none of them was injured.
