A fan of the Virginia Tech football team displayed a tasteless sign that made reference to the late Jose Fernandez.
VA Tech will take on the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday night in a game that will be heated on its own. The sign which has drawn strong criticism on social media has the words "Bury the U next to Jose Fernandez RIP."

Despite the criticism, the fan has left the post live on their Twitter account and has continued to receive replies on it.
Fernandez passed away tragically in a boating accident in September. The former ace of the Miami Marlins has received tributes from the sports world ever since. The Hurricanes were one of the teams that honored Fernandez with a #16 sticker on their helmets earlier this season.
Thursday's game will get started at 7:00 p.m.
