Getting an "A" as an engineering major is difficult enough, but at Florida International University, you have to perform a miracle.

On Monday, students had to get across a lake on the school campus by walking across it like Jesus in the Bible.

The Walk on Water competition required students to use their brains - and a little faith - to build floating shoes that would make it across the water.

And the only way to get an "A" was if the student made it all the way across without sinking or the invention falling apart. And no, the student doesn't go to hell if they didn't quite make it.

The engineering school's "right of passage" as architecture Professor Jaime Canaves calls it, started 21 years ago and many young minds have made it across the wet obstacle. Others have sank to the bottom, all in front of a laughing student body.

But we bet none of them have managed to turn water into wine yet. Now that would boost enrollment numbers for sure.

So for any aspiring FIU engineering students, when you see "Miracle 101" on your class registry, don't be afraid to get your feet wet.
