A suspect is in the hospital for gunshot wounds.

An early morning armed robbery attempt at a Davie Waffle House failed miserably when one of the crooks shot the other, police said.

The shooting happened around 4:00 a.m. Friday at the Waffle House at 2580 Davie Road near Interstate 595.

It's unknown what transpired but after the robbery was botched, one of the suspects was left with a gunshot wound.

Police said both fled the scene, and the wounded robber later called 911 from Fort Lauderdale for help with his injuries.

The suspect was picked up and taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.

Police are still investigating and talking to witnesses, but said no arrests had been made as of early Friday afternoon.
