The National Weather Service said there was a weak tornado touchdown in the area of Dania Beach for a very brief period around 1 p.m.
The manager of Power Catamarans of South Florida, located along State Road 84, said several small dinghies were knocked around and one has a big crack. The tornado touched down just northwest of the junction between Interstate 95 and 595 near Marina Mile.
Witnesses said it was a quick, scary event.
"It was beautiful then we had a little rainstorm come through, no big deal. Went inside to get otu of it and then all hell broke loose. It's like a train came through," said Bruce Wade, the manager. "It wasn't pretty."
