Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms will stay in the forecast for several more days before a drier pattern builds just in time for Independence Day.

Sunday afternoon is likely to hold showers and storms, with a possibility of heavy rains. Storms will start firing by midday and carry into the evening hours. Highs will reach 90.

Conditions will calm down in the evening hours, with partly cloudy skies and lows at 79.

A pattern of morning sunshine and afternoon storms will carry until Tuesday, before a new area of high pressure builds in and dries out the area. Highs will remain at about 90 degrees.

The tropics remain quiet this week with no developments expected for the next several days.
