Weekend Happenings: Marathons, Motorcycles and Mimosas

Horses and humans will hit the race track this weekend as the Pegasus World Cup  and Miami Marathon get underway. Other events this weekend include an art festival, motorcycle show and more.  

Pegasus World Cup
The Pegasus World Cup Invitational horse race returns to South Florida this Saturday, and $16 million is on the line. Twelve horses will participate in the 12th annual horse race, which takes place on the 1 1/8 mile track at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale. Miami Marathon and Half Marathon
Feel like getting fit this weekend? There’s still time to register for the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon, two races expected to overtake Miami on Sunday, Jan. 28. With more than 20,000 runners expected to participate in the event, traffic will likely be congested, but the Miami-Dade Police Department will be on scene to make sure the course runs smoothly. New additions to the 2018 race include music, entertainment and a post-race boxed meal, as well as complimentary race photos. Coral Gables Art Festival 
For South Floridians looking to explore their artistic side this weekend, the weekend-long Coral Gables Festival of the Arts is for you. The free event is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and more than 200 artists will be presenting exhibits, according to the event page. There will be a “Culinary Corner” offering beer, wine and food, as well as a “Kidz Zone” for the little ones. The event is located at 355 Alhambra Circle in Coral Gables. CanadaFest 2018 at Hollywood Beach
Flaunt your Canadian pride this weekend during CanadaFest, one of the most prominent Canadian French language festivals in the United States. The event – which will be held on Jan. 27 and 28 – will be located on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk between Arizona Street and Tyler Street, according to the official website. Artists and musicians like Brigitte Leblanc and Martin Dubé are expected to perform, and free mimosas will be granted to the first 500 festival-goers on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. The 35th annual event is organized by Le Soleil De La Floride and largely sponsored by the City of Hollywood. Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show
Motorcycle lovers, this one’s for you. The 12th annual Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show will take place this weekend, featuring more than 400 antique bikes. The free event is open to the public (there is a fee if you want to enter your own bike) and music, vendors and games will fill the air at Frost Park in Dania Beach (located at 300 NE 2nd St). Riverwalk Chili Cook Off 2018 
Whether you like cooking chili or simply enjoy eating it, the Riverwalk Chili Cook Off is sure to bring some spice to your life. The event at Esplanade Park (located at 400 SW 2nd St. in Fort Lauderdale) aims to bring together chili chefs and lovers of all ages for a “friendly local chili cook-off” competition. If cooking chili is not your strong suit, no worries – for $5, attendees at the event can sample various chili dishes. The event is free to attend and live entertainment will be provided from local artists such as Miss Demeanor. Key West Food and Wine Festival
Get ready to wine and dine at this year's Key West Food and Wine Festival. Guests will enjoy a diverse range of wines and inventive cuisine from iconic island locations. More than 20 events will be held over the weekend. The event starts Wednesday and runs through Sunday. More information can be found here.
