As South Florida continues to reel from the Feb. 14 tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, several local breweries, bars and restaurants are raising money for victims and their families, as well as paying tribute to the lives lost. Here are some of the local events going on this weekend and next.
Feb. 20 – Feb. 23:
Healing With Art
In an effort to heal after the tragic shooting at Stoneman Douglas, the Coral Springs Museum of Art will be hosting an art programming session that will allow participants to create art in a peaceful space. The museum says the art programming event aims to be therapeutic, and that admission will be waived through Feb. 24. Those interested can visit the museum anytime between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event is kid friendly. More information can be found here.
Feb. 23:
Benefit Concert for Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
On Friday, Revolution Live and Stache in Fort Lauderdale will host a benefit concert dedicated to supporting the families and community affected by the Parkland tragedy. All proceeds from ticket sales, donations and the event’s silent auction will be donated directly to those impacted. Fifty percent of bar sales will also be donated. The concert’s lineup includes Austin Mahone, Jack & Jack, Saigon Kick and the Ries Brothers, among others. The event is all ages and tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster here. I Heart Mac & Cheese Parkland Fundraiser
I Heart Mac & Cheese will be holding a fundraiser on Sunday, February 25, to raise money for the families of the Stoneman Douglas shooting victims. The chain, known for its wide range of “comfort food” options, will be holding the fundraisers at its locations in Parkland, Coral Springs, Pembroke Pines and Fort Lauderdale. A portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to the families, according to the organization.

Feb. 25:
Candlelight Walk/Run in Memory of Our 17
On Sunday, hundreds will gather at Runner’s Depot in Coral Springs to run for the victims of the Parkland shooting and the families and friends left behind. Runners will meet at Runner’s Depot at 6 p.m., and will start the run to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School at 6:15 p.m. The distance between Runner’s Depot and the school is 1 ¼ miles. At approximately 6:40 p.m., there will be a moment of silence for the fallen students, teachers and coaches and a recitation of the victims' names. Participants are asked to bring flashlights, running lights, or candlelight to pay tribute to the victims. Runner’s Depot is located at 5679 Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs, FL. 33076. March 4:
Fundraiser for Douglas High School
Next Sunday, a fundraising event to benefit the Broward Education Foundation and families affected by the Parkland shooting will begin at 12 p.m. at the 26 Degree Brewing Company in Pompano. The event will include a silent auction, food from Flanigan’s Seafood Bar and Grill and Papa’s Raw Bar and live entertainment from Shane Duncan Band, All Access Band and The Coppertones. Additionally, the brewing company will be changing the name of its IPA1A to MSDStrong. The event takes place on March 4th and ends at 6 p.m. For more information, click here.
