West Palm Beach Man Arrested, Confesses to Sex Acts on Child: Police

A West Palm Beach man has been arrested after police say he confessed to committing sexual acts upon a child, WPTV reports.

According to police, 31-year-old Bonifilio Ortiz admitted kissing and touching a girl's breasts and genitals as well as performing sexual acts on the victim.

Police say he also confessed to threatening the victim with posting a nude photo of her on Facebook in exchange for sex, according to an affidavit.

Investigators spoke with the victim who alleged that Ortiz would come into her bedroom at night once or twice a week and would always touch and kiss her.

On Feb. 25, a 15-minute one party consent controlled phone call was made at the West Palm Beach police department to Ortiz, where they say he apologized to the victim on several occasions after being confronted about the sexual contact.

During the conversation, police say he asked her to "move on" and not get him in trouble and to not contact the police.

According to an affidavit, he told her several times during the conversation that he loved her, to which she responded, "You don't love me because you were trying to have sex with me."

On March 2, another child was questioned by the Child Protection Team about what she witnessed.

The child described seeing Bonifilio entering their bedroom and kissing the victim. When the child asked Bonifilio what he was doing he answered, "I'm not doing anything."

She then described to investigators how Bonifilio put the victim on the floor of the bedroom, removed both his and the victim's clothing, and performed sexual acts.

The child told investigators that Bonifilio took photographs of the victim on his cell phone during the attacks.

Once the witness started to move, she said Bonifilio got off the victim and ran out of the room.

Bonifilio later told police he was not aware that the witness was awake and witnessed the sexual act.

Ortiz was arrested and charged with sexual battery and four counts of lewd or lascivious molestation.

Police noted in their report that Ortiz is a non-documented immigrant with no legal status in the country.
