Weston Podiatrist Adamantly Defends Himself During Trial

A Weston podiatrist accused of forcing his babysitter to inappropriately touch him took the witness stand in his own defense Thursday.

Dr. Augustine Bollo told the jury his reason why he was caught on camera apologizing for the incident, and adamantly defended himself.

"She touched my son's leg, she touched my leg, she bumped me, she touched my arm, she's poking, tickling my son, yes. But she never touched my -----, she never saw my -----, she never will and she never did," Dr. Bollo testified.

The 19-year-old babysitter, 15 at the time of the alleged crime, claims Bollo forced her hand under a blanket, while they were on a couch inside his Weston home in 2012.

Investigators secretly taped a meeting between the babysitter's mother, Bollo and his wife, in an effort to get him to admit to the incident.

"The bottom line is, I am the adult and I just want to apologize for the whole situation, sincerely," Bollo said during the conversation.

Bollo's 14-year-old daughter, in the room on the night in question, testified she saw nothing unusual, contradicting the babysitter's allegation.

Bollo explained his apology seen on that police video, "The sorry was, of course, our families have been friends for a long time and this is a terrible situation, that I did not do. I am not sure what was happening but we wanted to get it over with, not legally, as families and this was closure for our family to meet."

The babysitter testified earlier in the trial there was a blanket over her and Dr. Bollo's laps, but he had his two children come into court and testify that they never saw a blanket.

Testimony concluded Thursday and closing arguments are set for Friday. If Bollo is convicted of the lewd and lascivious behavior charge, the maximum penalty is 15 years in prison.
