Woman Abducted From Bus Stop Flees Captor

Fort Lauderdale Police looking for suspect who took woman at gunpoint

A Fort Lauderdale woman was abducted by a man from a bus stop at gunpoint but was able to run away as he attempted to sexually assault her.

The incident happened on June 16, as the victim waited at a bus stop on the 1800 block of Northwest 6th Street around 10 p.m.

Police said the suspect, who was driving a light colored 4-door mid-size car, pulled up alongside the woman and ordered her into his car at gunpoint.

The woman complied, and the man drove her to a more secluded area, where he demanded she have sex with him.

The woman took a chance and tried to escape, and was able to get away from the gunman.

She was able to get to a phone, where she called police, but the man got away.

The woman received medical treatment after she was injured during the ordeal, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, mid-to-late 20s, 5-foot-10 and a stocky 180 pounds or so with an earring.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect taken from a convenience store. They're asking anyone with info to call Broward County CrimeStoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
