Woman Accused in Retail Thefts Surrenders to Miami-Dade Police

A woman has been arrested for her alleged involvement in recent store thefts in South Florida.

On Sept. 16, Miami-Dade Police said Daniella Martinez, 27, who appeared pregnant, entered the Avante Hair Salon and asked to use the bathroom. She was allowed inside, and then shortly after, she left the store.

Police said when Martinez left, an employee at the salon realized her purse was missing. A review of the salon's surveillance video showed Martinez allegedly stealing the purse and walking out of the salon.

The woman in the video had not yet been identified at the time.

Then on Oct. 18, the manager of Valsan in Kendall released surveillance footage from her store, which showed a female stealing cash from the store's business office.

Later in the week, a South Florida man recognized the woman seen in the surveillance videos while watching the news. He told police he recognized her as his cousin's girlfriend. He made contact with Martinez and advised her to surrender.

On Oct. 23, Martinez surrendered to authorities. She said she had retained an attorney and did not want to answer any questions.

Martinez was arrested and has been charged with retail theft. Her bond was set at $5,000.
