Woman Accused of Letting Her Ex-Boyfriend Molest Her Daughter: Police

The woman and her ex-boyfriend were arrested on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation, Fort Lauderdale police say

A woman and her ex-boyfriend have been arrested after she allegedly allowed him to molest her 6-year-old daughter, Fort Lauderdale police said Wednesday.

The girl’s father learned of the molestation when he read an email exchange between the woman and her ex-boyfriend about the girl being made to touch the ex-boyfriend’s penis, according to an arrest affidavit.

The girl’s father notified Fort Lauderdale police, who investigated and arrested the woman and her ex-boyfriend on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation on a victim less than 16 years of age, according to police. To protect the identity of the child, NBC 6 isn’t naming the two arrested adults.

During the investigation, the girl told police she washed the ex-boyfriend’s private parts and that he molested her when she was forced to shower with him, police said.

The police inquiry began Dec. 11, when the girl’s father contacted the police department.

The girl’s father told police he had been helping his wife, who he was separated from, prepare her resume, police said. She gave him access to her email, where he found the explicit messages between her and her ex-boyfriend dating back to May last year, police said.

When police questioned the girl’s mother, she said she didn’t know anything about the messages, an arrest affidavit said.

A Fort Lauderdale police officer, who specializes in Internet-oriented crimes against children, obtained a warrant to search the email accounts of the girl’s mother and the ex-boyfriend, police said.

The officer found evidence in the email accounts that the girl’s mother had allowed her daughter to touch her ex-boyfriend’s penis, an arrest affidavit said.

The ex-boyfriend allegedly told police that the email exchanges were about “him teaching the victim sexual awareness,” the arrest report said.  He told police he knew it was wrong that the girl touched him, saying it had happened only once, the report said.
