Woman Accused of Running Prostitution Ring in Miami-Dade

A South Florida woman is facing charges after police say she ran a prostitution ring at two separate locations.

Yaneth Ramos, 49, was arrested Wednesday on charges including deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution, maintaining a house of prostitution, money laundering, soliciting another to commit prostitution and operating a massage parlor without a license, according to a Miami-Dade arrest warrant.

The warrant said Ramos ran houses of prostitution at businesses in Doral and on Miami's 8th Street. Police began investigating after they received an anonymous tip about prostitution happening at a spa in Doral, the warrant said.

Miami-Dade police detectives conducted an undercover operation, posing as a potential female employee and a male customer. They noticed that the fee for a so-called massage started at $100. Detectives say Ramos kept $70 from the women's earnings and only accepted cash.

Ramos appeared in court Thursday where she was ordered held on $78,500.
