Woman Busted After Bag Evacuates MIA Terminal

Concourse F was shut down for an hour because of luggage left at checkpoint

The owner of the piece of luggage responsible for authorities evacuating a terminal at Miami International Airport has been arrested, Miami-Dade Police said Wednesday.

Danisa Landaeta, 26, was charged with staging a bomb hoax after she left her luggage near a checkpoint at Concourse F on Tuesday afternoon.

The suitcase had a "suspicious note" on it that prompted Transportation Security Administration employees to call authorities, who promptly cleared the terminal, police said.

Authorities did not release what the note said.

Several hundred people were evacuated as a bomb squad was called into investigate. A scan of the bag concluded there was nothing dangerous in Landaeta's luggage. Passengers were allowed to re-enter the concourse after about an hour.

Landaeta was also charged with criminal mischief.

She is currently in Miami-Dade jail on $15,500 bond. It was unclear if she had an attorney.
