Woman Charged in Shooting Death of Boyfriend: Police

A woman is behind bars after police say she fatally shot her boyfriend in northwest Miami-Dade early Saturday morning.

Miami-Dade Police responded to reports of shots fired at a home on the 1000 block of NW 102nd Street just before 3 a.m. Officers found 40-year-old Frazier Taurus suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died.

Investigators said the shooting was the result of an argument between Taurus and 31-year-old Markeita Davis, his live-in girlfriend. Earlier in the evening, police said Davis had been involved in a car accident. As a tow truck delivered her car to the home, Davis and Taurus began arguing. That's when police said Davis pulled out a gun and shot Taurus before fleeing on foot.

Davis later returned to the scene as police continued to investigate. She was arrested without incident. Police recovered the gun.

Davis faces second-degree murder charges and is being held without bond. It is unclear whether Davis has an attorney.
