Woman Arrested in Shooting Death of Girlfriend in Overtown: Police

A Plantation woman is under arrest, accused of shooting and killing her alleged domestic partner inside an Overtown apartment Tuesday.

Monique Noble, 34, is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 49-year-old Gretchen Miranda. She has been ordered held without bond.

It is not known if Noble has an attorney.

Police believe the shooting happened during an argument between the two women in the Overtown apartment where Miranda lived overnight Tuesday.

According to an arrest form, another person in the apartment left and called police after Noble made threats to shoot Miranda. When that person returned, they found Monique unresponsive.

Two separate witnesses report that Noble called them and admitted to each of them that she had shot Monique. Noble informed one of the witnesses that she was driving away from Miami, according to the report.

Lauderhill Police later stopped Noble for an unrelated traffic offense and ended up bringing her in to provide a statement, at which time she was arrested.

Homicide investigators estimate that Miranda was shot and killed sometime before 1:30 a.m, at 415 Northwest Ninth Street, apartment nine Tuesday.

There were no children inside the home at the time of the shooting, and none of the residents in the surrounding apartment units were hurt.
