Woman Charged in September 2018 Fatal Crash on Turnpike

A woman faces charges for a multi-vehicle crash on Florida's Turnpike that killed two people last year.

Kritzia Lopez, 28, turned herself in to authorities and was booked into Miami-Dade jail Wednesday night.

The September 21 crash shut down the Turnpike for hours near Kendall Drive after Lopez allegedly collided with several vehicles, including a fuel tanker. The crash caused the vehicles to cross the center median and end up on the southbound lanes.

Two people died at the scene and at least six people were hospitalized.

Lopez was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.

Her charges include DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide, according to online jail records. A judge set Lopez's bond to $74,000, revoked her driving privileges and put her on house arrest with an ankle monitor. Attorney information was not available.
