Woman Dies After Cosmetic Procedure at Miami-Dade Surgery Center

Kizzy London traveled to South Florida from Louisiana for procedure

Police are investigating the death of a woman after she underwent a cosmetic procedure at a Miami-Dade surgery center Thursday.

The incident happened at Jolie Surgery Center at 8504 Southwest 8th Street, Miami-Dade Police confirmed.

Officials said 40-year-old Kizzy London, who is from Louisiana, came to South Florida for the procedure.

Police said they received a 911 call of a woman who became unresponsive during the surgery. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and rushed her to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where she later died.

Officials from the surgery center said London developed cardiac arrest toward the end of the operation and immediate resuscitation efforts were begun followed by a call to 911.

"We send our deepest condolences to the loved ones of our patient who tragically underwent a cardiac arrest during a procedure yesterday afternoon, December 14th," Dr. Arnaldo Valls said in a statement. "Cosmetic surgeries, like all surgeries, carry some degree of risk for pain, bleeding or other complications; we take great precautions in running numerous exams to assure the safety of the patient. All standard pre-operative procedures were administered."

Family members told NBC 6 that London, a mother of two, was having a tummy tuck performed but officials said it was a Brazilian Butt Lift. The family members  said her longtime partner and the father of her two children was with her and had to be checked into a hospital for chest pains after she died.

"I'm tearing up inside. I lost my oldest daughter, now I lost my baby daughter and she's got a baby one years old and her oldest son is 21," mother Linder London said in a phone interview Friday.

Police said London's death remains under investigation.
