Woman Fights Back in Miami Home Invasion: Police

Miami Police are investigating a home invasion and beating that occurred Friday evening in the 3100 block of Northwest 15th Street.

According to investigators, the victim was home alone with the front door open as she prepared for dinner. She was approached by an unknown man who entered her home and demanded money and jewelry.

Police said the woman, in fear, gave the burglar money from inside her purse, but as she turned away to give him the rest of her belongings, he kicked her dog. She armed herself with a knife and stabbed the burglar.

The suspect then struck her over the head and a struggled ensued. Police said the woman dropped to the ground and loss consciousness. The suspect fled the scene.

Police received the call once the victim regained consciousness. Detectives believe the call was received an hour after the incident occurred.

The victim was treated and released on the scene by Miami Fire Rescue for minor bumps and bruises.

The suspect is described as a possible Hispanic man.
