An Ocala woman, who bit and punched two loss prevention officers when they caught her stealing five tablets, was arrested after she left her purse, identification and wig at the Walmart, authorities said.
On Friday, Breanna La'Tedra Salmon was seen by the loss prevention officers as she took the tablets from the shelves and put them in her purse, the Ocala Star-Banner reported.
The officers stopped Salmon as she tried to leave the store, but she bit one of the officers and repeatedly punched them in the face, the newspaper reported.
According to the sheriff’s office, store managers told the officers to let Salmon go. The woman left the store but left behind her purse, driver’s license, wig and cell phone, the newspaper said.
Deputies recovered her purse and belongings and were able to arrest her. She was charged with retail petit theft, battery and resisting a merchant, according to authorities. It wasn’t immediately known if she had an attorney.
The tablets were valued at $248.70, and Salmon told deputies she needed the money to help pay the light bill, according to the newspaper.
