Woman Waves Gun During Road Rage Incident in Gainesville

Authorities are searching for a woman who pulled out a gun during a road rage incident in Gainesville.

According to police, the victim said he was driving the night of August 5 when a large black pick up truck occupied by several people cut him off. The victim then honked his horn causing the suspects to start yelling at him and they threw a can of beer into his vehicle.

The victim then pulled over at a Chevron gas station where he was followed by the truck. The driver, 30-year-old Jacob Sylvester, and an unidentified male passenger exited the truck and attacked the victim, police said.

During the confrontation, a female passenger exited the truck with a pistol and began pointing it at the victim. She was quickly pushed away by Sylvester who wrestled the gun out of her hand and pushed her back in the truck, police said.

As the suspects prepared to leave, the victim tried to take a photograph of the vehicle with his phone. Sylvester and the other male exited the truck again and began to strike the victim and strip the phone out of his hand. Sylvester briefly took the victim’s phone, but just tossed it before fleeing, police said.

Sylvester was identified and later arrested at his home. Sylvester would not identify the other passengers, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gainesville Police Department at 352-393-7619.
