The woman who crashed into a Broward County Sheriff’s Office substation in Pembroke Park will face arson and burglary charges.

Lasandra Johnson, 34, remains hospitalized after she crashed a Toyota Camry, which was filled with accelerants, into the community service room at BSO’s South Broward office located at 3201 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., according to BSO.

The vehicle caught fire following impact on Monday. Johnson sustained third-degree burns.

BSO did not specify why Johnson is facing arson and burglary charges.

Ben Mendez, who was painting inside the building on the opposite side of the community service room, said he witnessed the entire incident.

"It was a big explosion, like dynamite," he said. "She was totally engulfed in flames."

Mendez said he had just enough time to pull the burning woman out of the car and rip off her burning dress.

"That's when I threw her on the ground. I go 'roll, roll on the ground!' She wasn't listening to me," he said.
