Woman With Stroller Person of Interest in Michael's Arson

Police looking for woman connected to fire at Kendall arts and crafts store

Police say a woman seen pushing a stroller into a Kendall Michael's moments before the store was intentionally set on fire is a person of interest in an arson investigation.

Miami-Dade Police on Wednesday released surveillance video taken on Feb. 8 at the store at 12425 N. Kendall Drive that shows the unidentified woman walk into the store minutes before it was set on fire.

The video shows the woman quickly leave the store, though it's not clear whether a child was in the stroller.

Police say three different fires were started in the same area of the store with an unknown flammable substance. No one was injured but the fire caused $50,000 in damages.

"Thanks to the quick response time of the Miami-Dade fire department, there was minimal damage to the West Kendal Center Michaels, and we re-opened on Saturday," the company said in a statement. "We are fully cooperating with the investigation that is being conducted by the local authorities."

The motive for the arson is unknown, and police are still investigating. Anyone with info is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
