Woman's Body Found in Plantation: Police

Police are investigating a suspicious death after a woman's body was found in Plantation Sunday morning.

Plantation Police made the discovery in the parking lot of the Broward County Government Center West at 1 North University Drive around 8:45 a.m.

"Shocked. I'm just in shock. I'm in shock," said area resident Erica Desouza. "Wow, this is scary. You never know anywhere could be too close to home."

Plantation police sealed off the parking lot at the Government Center. Underneath the tent and behind the raised yellow tarp is the body of a young woman.

Crime scene investigators took pictures and combed through the empty parking lot but came up empty-handed. The woman had no identification on her and nothing in her pockets.

The woman appeared to be 35 to 45 years old, according to police. She is described as white, possibly Latin, with dark hair. She is approximately 5'4" and weighs 130 to 145 pounds. Police said she was wearing brown pants, a cream-colored blouse and black flats. She also had a nose ring and several tattoos.

Plantation Police Detective Phillip Toman said some jewelry was found at the scene. It's unclear if the jewelry belonged to the unknown woman. Police say she also had several tattoos and a nose ring.

"We're trying to identify her since we dont have any I.D. on her or anything at this point in time," Toman said. "We're hoping that maybe somebody reported her missing."

The cause of death has not yet been determined.

Police are urging anyone with information to call the Plantation Police Department at (954) 797-2100 or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
