Would-Be Burglar Flees Empty-Handed After Hurling Concrete Through Store Windows: BSO

Police are searching for a man who hurled chunks of concrete through two store windows in Oakland Park.

A would-be burglar hurled chunks of concrete through two different Oakland Park shop windows Wednesday, but came up short, officials said.

The unidentified man first hurled the concrete through the door of Monster Subs at 2172 W. Oakland Park Boulevard early Wednesday morning, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office press release.

He checked the register, but found only loose change, the release said.

Minutes later, he shattered the glass door at the Dollar General across the street at 2121 W. Oakland Park Boulevard, according to officials. Once more, he checked the cash registers, but found them completely empty, the release said.

Broward detectives are looking for the man, who fled empty-handed. Anyone with information is urged to contact BSO Detective Eric Versteeg at 954-202-3131 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or at BrowardCrimeStoppers.org.
