During her appearance at Miami Dade College's Freedom Tower Monday, Yoani Sanchez said that earlier in her world tour someone asked her if she is from Fidel Castro's Cuba or from Miami's Cuba. Sanchez said her family had received a number of verbal threats in the last couple of days which have been marked by violence and more than 250 dissident detentions, according to the newspaper.

Although she said she was initially stalled by a police detail around her house, she was finally able to leave to Miami on what she called a "bussiness and family visit" before attending an art and literature festival in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, reported Periodico 24.
