Young Shooting Suspect Behind Bars in Miami-Dade

A young suspect in the shooting of a teen girl in Florida City was behind bars in South Florida Thursday as residents came together for a forum to fight gun violence.

Christopher Walker, 15, was booked into the Miami-Dade jail Thursday night to face charges in the October shooting death of 17-year-old Noricia Talabert.

Walker was arrested in Brooklyn last month. It's unknown if he's hired an attorney.

Just last week, also in Miami-Dade, a 7-year-old boy was shot and killed in a drive-by. The next day a 13-year-old boy was shot, he's still in the hospital.

At a church in Miami Gardens Thursday night, parents of murdered kids spoke about the gun violence both present and past.

"Whether or not I'll ever get justice for my son I don't know. But I'm praying things are going to get better," one parent said.

The group grabbed the attention of high-profile leaders and police departments, demanding laws be enforced, more aggressive investigations, and victim advocates.

"I'm angry because six years ago if someone had called me back and had the decency to tell me we have a name, maybe some of this could have been resolved," another parent said.

Walker has been charged with first degree murder, and two counts of attempted murder.
