A young woman had her wish granted Saturday when she went to a Marlins game and had the opportunity to meet the late Jose Fernandez, who tragically died in a boating accident Sunday.
Cristina Llanes, 20, who before succumbing to a debilitating disease, used to go to Marlins games with her father. She says she's been a baseball fan from early on.
On Saturday, Miami fire rescue transported the young survivor to the Marlins game, allowing her to watch the batting practice as well as meet the players.
Llanes said it was a "huge" and "amazing" experience meeting Fernandez.
"I feel like he's up there in heaven teaching all the other kids and players to show what he experienced and that he had his dream come true," Llanes said.
