Zoo Miami had two reasons to celebrate on Tuesday.

The zoo introduced its new Zoo Squad mascots and welcomed a new baby giraffe.

The new mascots include Gigi the giraffe, Kaz the rhino and Pio the red-billed oxpecker.

About 60 children from the West Kendall Baptist Hospital Early Learning Center and a zoo camp met the mascots.

Burnie from the Miami Heat, Billy the Marlin and Sebastian the Ibis were also present.

The newborn giraffe, which was born on Monday evening, is expected to undergo a neonatal exam on Thursday, according to Ron Magill.
