Woman Shot at Tropical Park During Argument Over Parking Spot

A woman was shot Wednesday during a fight over a parking spot at a Florida park, police say.

According to police, a man in a Mercedes was teaching his wife how to park a car on the Tropical Park’s lot in Southwest Miami-Dade. They were approached by a couple in a Nissan SUV just after 8:30 p.m. complaining that the Mercedes was blocking handicapped parking spots.

Michael levy, the passenger of the Mercedes began arguing with the driver of the SUV, Rudy Velasquez, and a confrontation ensued.

"The passenger of the Mercedes proceeded to exit his vehicle, as the argument continued," Miami-Dade police Detective Robin Pinkard said in a statement. "At some point thereafter, the passenger of the Mercedes-Benz, who was still standing outside of his vehicle, retrieved a firearm from his belt bag and fired several shots toward the Nissan."

The victim, identified as Cecilia Gonzalez, suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Kendall Regional Trauma Center.

Police questioned all parties involved and said the investigation, adding arrests were pending.
