Mother of Fla. Prison Escapee: “Please Come Home”

The families of the two killers who walked out of prison thanks to forged court documents, pleaded with both men to surrender to law enforcement officials during a press conference Saturday. Authorities are still conducting a manhunt for Charles Bernard Walker and Joseph Ivan Jenkins, convicted murderers serving life sentences. “Charles, God knows you, I know who you are,” Lillie Danzy, Walker’s mother, said. “We want you to return home safely." Danzy said that after getting out of jail her son spent the first days of his freedom with family and appeared at public places, including church, making no attempts to hide. Within days of leaving prison, Jenkins and Walker registered as felons, as required by Florida law. They signed paperwork, were fingerprinted and photographed before walking out without raising any alarms. On Friday, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said Jenkins and Walker are believed to still be in central Florida, adding that the pair had been released due to a system error.
