Court: Teen Must Turn Over “Affluenza” Records

A state appeals court has ruled that attorneys for a North Texas teen who killed four people in a drunken crash must turn over records of the psychiatrist who testified the teen suffered from "affluenza."

The 2nd Texas Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday against Ethan Couch on whether his attorneys can withhold records of Dr. Dick Miller. Couch is being sued by the family of one of the children injured in last year's crash.

Couch is now being treated in a state-run facility.

Miller testified at Couch's sentencing hearing that the teen, then 16, had been coddled by his wealthy parents into a sense of irresponsibility, a condition he called "affluenza."

Michael Yanof, an attorney for Couch, said Tuesday that he was evaluating whether to appeal the ruling.
