FWC Identifies Men Seen Dragging Shark Behind Speeding Boat in Video

Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said they've identified the men seen in a social media video that appears to show a shark tied to the back of a boat being dragged across water at high speeds.

FWC isn't releasing their names to the public and no arrests have been made, officials said in a statement Wednesday.

"The FWC has identified the individuals in the video, and would like to thank the public for their assistance," the statement read. "Per normal protocol, while this investigation is ongoing, the agency will not be confirming the identities of the individuals involved."

Officials with FWC announced Tuesday that they were investigating the video, which sparked outrage on social media after it was posted.

In the video released by the FWC, one of the men appears to say "look, it’s already almost dead," while pointing to the shark flopping across the water behind the speeding boat.

FWC officials said it's too early to speculate as to what, if any, violations took place in the incident.

"The FWC would like to state that that the lack of respect shown in this video for our precious natural resources is disheartening and disturbing, and is not representative of conservation-minded anglers around the world," the FWC statement read.
