Facebook Tops Highest Paid Interns List With Monthly $8,000

Career-seeking college students were once confined to coffee runs, note taking and filing papers as interns – for free. Well, those days are now long gone. Interns at some of the nation’s top companies are now taking on tasks (and pay) similar to those performed by highly-experienced professionals.

A new Glassdoor report ranks the nation's highest paying internships, with Facebook taking the top spot by paying their interns a hefty average of $8,000 per month. (It’s notable to mention that since $8,000 is the median, then that means some interns are getting paid more.)

The report cites Facebook’s open culture and opportunities for real impact as reasons for the social media giant’s top ranking on the list for the second straight year.

A former software engineer intern at Facebook boasts of "amazing perks," including free food, snacks, transportation, private housing, and, of course, all expense-paid events on the weekends.

Mircosoft came in second on the list by paying their interns a average monthly pay of $7,100.

“Meaningful intern projects. Great diversity of teams: Microsoft has their hands on absolutely everything, so you get to talk to a lot of very smart and interesting people,” reviewed an intern of their experience with the company.

ExxonMobil grabbed the list’s third spot, with interns earning an average $6,507 per month. Salesforce was ranked fourth, followed by Amazon. Both companies pay their interns an average $6,400 monthly.

Here’s who landed in the top 10 and how much their interns are earning:
