NY Parents Left Kids Home Alone for 6 Days, Went to Hotel: Cops

The two were charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor

Police say a mother and father left their four children alone in their Long Island home for six days with no heat or food while they stayed at a nearby hotel.

Maria and Tulio Ayala allegedly left their children, ages 4, 8, 13 and 15, unsupervised in the Central Islip home from last Friday to Wednesday, according to authorities.

The pair was arrested after officials from Central Islip Public Schools notified police that the children had been left in the home without food or heat.

The parents were charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

The children were not hurt and were released to a relative, police said.
