"Moonlight" writer and director Barry Jenkins just scored another win for Miami.

The Miami native landed on Time’s 100 Most Influential People list under the artist category along with big names including Alicia Keys, Emma Stone, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, Donald Glover, and Ava DuVernay.

"Barry Jenkins is one of the rare artists who are willing to look into the deeper places of themselves and society in order to provide a lens through which we may discover the humanity at our core," stated a short profile of Jenkins on the list.

Jenkins turned heads with the release of the Miami-made and critically-acclaimed film, “Moonlight,” which chronicles the growth of a young black male from adolescence to adulthood in Liberty City as he struggles with his sexual identity.

The film won Jenkins an armful of Oscar Awards in categories including Directing, Writing (Adapted Screenplay) and Best Picture.

The theme of this year’s list is pioneers. The list of 100 includes top influencers from the tech and entertainment industries, as well as world leaders and icons.
