Former Red Sox Player Found Safe After Going Missing

Former Major League Baseball outfielder Otis Nixon, who went missing over the weekend in Georgia, has been found safe, police said Monday.

Nixon, who played for the Atlanta Braves from 1991 through 1993 and then retired with the team in 1999, was last seen leaving his Woodstock home around 10 a.m. Saturday morning in a gray Range Rover, police said. The 58-year-old was on his way to a local golf course where he had a tee time but never arrived, Woodstock police said.

Nixon's girlfriend, who lives with him, reported him missing, Woodstock police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said.

Just before 12:30 p.m Monday, Woodstoock police tweeted that Nixon had been "located and is safe." Duncan said there was no foul play involved and that police considered the case closed.

No other details on where he was found or the circumstances were immeditately available.

In 1991, he was suspended for 60 days after testing positive for cocaine.
