While most Americans following the International Olympic Committee’s decision to bypass Chicago for Rio de Janeiro were disappointed, thousands of Brazilians living in South Florida were jubilant.
Hosting the 2016 Olympics would be a huge economic boost for a country, they said.
Besides, it’s not as if the United States has not hosted the Olympics.
Nevertheless, President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey, both with strong Chicago ties, were disappointed.
But we’ve never marched to the beat of the national drum in Miami. In fact, we dance more to conga drums, regardless of our background or culture.
So we want to know what you think of the IOC’s decision to allow Brazil to host the 2016 Olympics.
