Secretary of State Hillary Clinton departed Friday for a global diplomacy tour, which will see her travel to Europe and Russia to discuss Iran, Afghanistan and weapons control with foreign nations.

Clinton will visit Switzerland, Britain, Ireland and Russia during the five-day trip. Much of the discussion between Clinton and the world leaders she'll meet with is expected to revolve around pushing for harsh sanctions against Iran and drumming up support for U.S. efforts in Afghanistan, aides said.

Clinton's first stop is Zurich, Switzerland, where she will witness the signing of a pact designed to improve relations between rivals Turkey and Armenia. She'll then move to Dublin and Belfast, attempting to moderate religious tension in Northern Ireland and improve British-Irish communication.

She'll visit London on Sunday, meeting with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Foreign Secretary David Miliband. In Moscow, her last stop, Clinton is expected to push Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov for penalties against Iran if it refuses to suspend its uranium enrichment progress.
