China to Rent D-Wade for $2M a Month

Wade still open to playing overseas

With Yao Ming retiring, the billion-plus Chinese need a new basketball hero.

Dwyane Wade might be available.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Zhejiang Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association has offered the Miami Heat star $2 million a month for him to play if the NBA lockout cancels the season.

The rent-a-NBA player craze started earlier this summer when All-Star point guard Deron Williams said he would be playing for a team in Turkey to stay in shape. Kobe Bryant is also being courted by the same team and other NBA stars have said they will listen to offers overseas.

Wade has said that he would also be open to playing abroad and was recently in China to promote his clothing line.

The move might not be so bad for Wade, who has seen his popularity and marketing rating fall since joining forces with LeBron James last season. Nothing like have a billion new fans all wearing No. 3 jerseys to boost your worldwide appeal.
