Chris Bosh's Mom Arrested on Exploitation of Disabled Charge

Freida Bosh, the mother of professional basketball free agent Chris Bosh, was arrested and charged over a scheme related to the alleged exploitation of a disabled person.

The DeSoto Police Department in Texas said officers arrested Bosh and Johnathan Brown – who lived in the DeSoto residence with Bosh – on Tuesday. Bosh posted bond and was released. Brown remained in custody as of Tuesday.

Though officials executed a search warrant over suspected drug distribution activity in the residence at 902 St. George Place in DeSoto, Bosh and Brown were arrested on charges of exploitation of a disabled person, which is a third-degree felony.

DeSoto police said Bosh and Brown allowed the disabled victim to stay at the residence for the "purpose of monetary profit, personal benefit and gain."

"The affidavit states that Bosh ordered the victim to relinquish a large portion of his monthly disability check to her to pay rent for the victim and Brown," police said in a statement. "The affidavit further advises the victim, who was intimidated by Brown, was then forced to participate in Brown's drug distribution activities."

DeSoto police said Bosh allowed the situation of exploitation and illegal distribution of drugs to continue as a means to acquire free narcotics and marijuana from Brown.

The Dallas suburb was subjected to a high-profile drug raid earlier this month.

Chris Bosh is listed as the owner of the home. Bosh played 13 seasons in the NBA. Plagued by injuries and health issues in recent years, he was cut by the Miami Heat on July 4.
