Dolphins After NFL's Dirtiest Player

So we can't have a diva receiver, but we may grab the world's nastiest guard. Makes sense.

For those of us who'd trade on-field headbutts and an off-field arrest or two for something better on Sundays, it looks like our time may have come.

Former Rams and Bills guard Richie Incognito is visiting Davie this evening and tomorrow, which means the Dolphins will probably sign him if it goes well (they've brought only two players down so far, and offered both; they tried to acquire Incognito through waivers once already).

What's surprising? We'd have thought Incognito was in the bottom five of "players on the face of the planet Bill Parcells would be interested in, including an under-7 Pop Warner team coached by Ron Prince."

That's because Incognito is dirty. Filthy. Nasty. And we're not just talking on the field, though he's particularly stellar in that department. Voted by his peers last year to be the NFL's dirtiest player, Incognito has racked up nearly six figures in fines since he started playing for the Rams in 2006. Two years ago, Incognito racked up $35,000 in fines for verbally abusing an official, a facemask penalty, and an illegal (and dangerous) chop block -- all in one game.

Against the Titans last season, Incognito head-butted an opposing player twice, earning a matching set of personal fouls; got into a verbal confrontation with his own coach, Steve Spagnuolo, on the sidelines; was fined $50,000; and got himself released by the team.

Sound like a Bill Parcells guy? Just wait.

Before he even entered the NFL, Incognito was dismissed from Oregon for failing to comply with team requirements, and prior to that, suspended from Nebraska for a variety of misdeeds, one of which earned him assault charges.

Hoo boy. From someone who likes a little hothead in her football, so long as no one gets hurt, the prospect of someone nastier than Joey Porter but young enough to still have the talent to back it up is pretty tittilating. It's just shocking that The Tuna is interested in Incognito while Jason Taylor wasn't to do "Dancing With the Stars" and Brandon Marshall stews in his own attitude as Ted Ginn runs out of bounds empty-handed.

But hey, whatever, let's bash some heads.
