Dolphins Bring Daniel Thomas Back For Depth

With Knowshon Moreno lost due to an elbow injury, the Dolphins signed Daniel Thomas on Monday

The Miami Dolphins who will be without Knowshon Moreno for the foreseeable future signed Daniel Thomas on Monday.

Moreno injured his elbow during Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills on a tackle. The injury is listed as a dislocated elbow and it is likely that Moreno will be unavailable for more than a month. Heading into the second week, Moreno led all NFL running backs in rushing yards. He played a big role in the season opening win over New England.

Moreno's absence on Sunday was noticeable as Miami struggled to gain yards on the ground. In addition, they relied heavily on quarterback Ryan Tannehill and the passing game. That did not work out so well as Buffalo came away with an easy victory.

As for Thomas, he was let go during the final round of cuts before the season began. This will be the fourth season that Thomas suits up for in Miami. How much of an impact he'll have remains to be seen as he is going to serve as depth behind Lamar Miller.

Miller exited Sunday's game with an ankle injury but as of now, he is expected to be ready to go for the next game. Before leaving the game, Miller saw the bulk of opportunities on the ground with Moreno unavailable.

To make room on the roster for Thomas, the Dolphins placed defensive back Sammy Seamster on injured reserve. Seamster was acquired on waivers prior to the start of the year.

The Dolphins will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at 1 p.m.
