Dolphins Fall as Broncos Tally 22 Points in Fourth

The Dolphins saw their lead vanish in an explosive 22-point fourth quarter for Denver

The Miami Dolphins had a lead going to the final quarter but it all fell at that point as the Denver Broncos came away 39-36 winners.

Miami scored first and did not surrender the lead during the first three quarters. In fact, the Dolphins even added onto their halftime lead with a touchdown in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was a different story however as Denver outscored Miami 22-8.

The loss put a dent in the playoff hopes for Miami but it is still alive with five weeks to go. The Dolphins are 6-5 and still in second place in the AFC East. With the New England Patriots running off seven wins in a row, the wild card however will likely be the only route for Miami in terms of postseason play.

Ryan Tannehill had a relatively good game with his 228 yards. The quarterback was 26-36 on the day and threw three touchdown passes. A late interception came on a tipped pass and resulted in a Denver score that put the game further out of reach. With under two minutes to play, Tannehill led Miami down the field for a TD but the team was unable to recover an onside try.

Jarvis Landry caught two TD passes and now has five such receptions this season. Mike Wallace caught the other touchdown pass to give him seven on the year.

The ground game was quiet for Miami with Lamar Miller only collecting 59 yards on 12 carries. Overall, the Dolphins only had 97 rushing yards on the day. Daniel Thomas picked up a rushing TD which was his first of the year.

The Dolphins will head to New York for a Monday Night Football matchup with the Jets next Monday.
