Dolphins' Pouncey Selected to Pro Bowl

Mike Pouncey will be Miami's lone representative at the Pro Bowl in January

Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was named to the Pro Bowl on Tuesday and will be the team's only representative.

This is the third straight year that Pouncey has been selected to the NFL's All-Star Game which will take place in January. The question right now is if Pouncey will be able to play after exiting Sunday's game with a foot injury. The foot is expected is to keep Pouncey out of action for the remainder of the regular season.

In what has been a terrible season for Miami, Pouncey has contributed solid play as usual. After making the Pro Bowl in 2013 as a center, Pouncey returned to Hawaii as a guard last year. This time around, he's headed there as a center once again.

Going into the year, Miami looked poised to send multiple players to Hawaii. Ndamukong Suh who signed a $114 million deal was looked at as almost a lock for the Pro Bowl. Suh had headed to the game the last two years and four of the previous five overall. However, Suh has not posted big numbers in his first season with Miami and was left off the roster.

The Dolphins also likely expected that Cameron Wake would be a candidate for the game heading into the year. Wake was lost for the season in October with an Achilles injury. If not for that, it is possible Wake would be packing his bags for Hawaii as well.

With one of the worst records in the NFL, some players may also have paid the price for the team's performance. It is difficult to justify the selection of multiple players from a team that may select early in the upcoming NFL draft.

The Pro Bowl will take place on January 31st.
