Dolphins Reinstate Safety Don Jones

The Miami Dolphins have reinstated safety Don Jones less than a week after he was suspended for a tweet critical of the St. Louis Rams drafting defensive end Michael Sam, according to a team source.

Jones was fined and suspended by the Fins after Sam kissed his boyfriend on television. Jones tweeted, “OMG” and “Horrible.” Jones apologized for the tweets the following day in a statement.

Jones said he regretted the tweets took away from Sam’s draft moment. Jones also apologized to the Dolphins and owner Stephen Ross. He was also required to undergo sensitivity training, which he’s completed, the team source said.

At the time of his suspension, Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said the tweets were "inappropriate and unacceptable, and we regret the negative impact these comments had on such an important weekend for the NFL."
