Dolphins Sign Another QB Not to Push Henne

Dolphins sign quarterback Kevin O'Connell

Just about every quarterback this side of Fran Tarkenton has been rumored to be headed to the Miami Dolphins.

So that makes it even more impressive that Miami was able to sign a QB on Friday that no one has heard of.

Dolfans, give a big South Florida welcome to Kevin O'Connell.

We know you didn't get to this sentence before the "Who in the ..." got out of your mouth, but don't be alarmed. We have the limited data available on the latest Dolphins signing.

O'Connell is a fourth year pro from San Diego State. The 26-year-old sat out last season with a shoulder injury, but was drafted by the New England Patriots and has played for the New Jork Jets and Detroit Lions.

And by "played," we mean made the roster.

For his NFL career, O'Connell is 4 out of 6 for 23 yards.

So you might be asking yourself, "Why would the Dolphins sign a guy who has no shot at seeing the field and won't push Chad Henne?"

The answer is simple.

To give fans someone to boo other than the sensitive starter.
